What is it?

The Teddy Talk Test is a simple speech and language assessment that can be used by a range of Early Years Professionals with children who are 5 years old or under.
-
It enables practitioners to identify a child’s speech & language development relative to their chronological age.
-
It supports practitioners in understanding where to start in order to support children's speech, language & communication skills, including whether referral to Speech and Language Therapy is appropriate or not.
-
Links to the EYFS curriculum, the ECAT monitoring tool and the Healthy Child Programme.
How do I use it?

The Teddy Talk Test includes a comprehensive instruction booklet which outlines the different sections of the test and how to administer it.
However many report that our Teddy Talk Test training is invaluable in supporting their understanding of the test and how to use it.
Our online training is a 2 hour video-based training package which can be accessed online at anytime. We also offer 'question times' for users to chat directly to our team.
Theory into Practice
The Teddy Talk Test is based on the widely used principles of the Derbyshire Language Scheme (Madislover, M and Knowles, W 1982). The instructions increase in complexity as the number of "key words" increases.
It also links to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum, the ECAT monitoring tool and the Healthy Child Programme.
